Measurement and Geometry Limits
A mathematically correct result can still be wrong for a building if the input measurement, unit, footprint, plane layout, or assumed pitch is wrong. Simple area models may not capture every valley, dormer, wall intersection, overhang, opening, taper, or mixed-pitch plane. Independently verify field dimensions before using a result.
Material Takeoff Limits
Coverage, laps, exposure, fastening, starter, cap, trim, underlayment, accessory, minimum-piece, and offcut-reuse rules vary by product and assembly. The calculators round planning quantities but do not generate shop drawings or a supplier-approved order. Confirm every line against the exact product data, a plane-by-plane layout, supplier guidance, and applicable requirements.
Rafter and Structural Limits
Rafter outputs are theoretical line lengths. They do not select lumber species or grade, establish span capacity, size connections, design birdsmouth cuts, account for ridge details, or evaluate snow, wind, seismic, dead, or live loads. Structural decisions require a design appropriate to the building and location.
Quote-Range Limits
The quote-range calculator applies rates and documented extras supplied by the user. It does not provide a national price, local market database, bid, valuation, or promise that a contractor will perform work for the result. Normalize product, tear-off, deck work, access, flashing, ventilation, permits, disposal, tax, warranty, exclusions, and change-order terms before comparing quotes.
Roof Access and Safety
Roofs are fall hazards at any pitch. Surface condition, moisture, material, height, edges, openings, weather, electrical hazards, and work activity all affect risk. Pitch labels and diagrams never authorize access or replace a competent site assessment, compliant fall protection, training, or qualified professionals.

Codes, standards, product approvals, warranties, and manufacturer instructions change and vary by jurisdiction and assembly.
